EasyPC           Simple PC with built in features to make it easier, cheaper
                 and less complex than Desktop computers.
		

eBook            An Electronic Book which can be read on any device that can 
                 display files in Text, RTF, PDF or even WOLF formats which
                 is used on some eBook readers e.g. Hanlin V2.


ECC              Error Correction Code used on memory modules for reliability.
                 Similar to Parity error correction.
								 					 
ECP              Extended Capabilities Port which allows bi-directional
                 communication on new Parallel Ports. Ten times faster than
                 the older Centronics standard. 

ECP              Exchange Control Panel. Provides settings/options for managing Exchange
                 E-mail system from Exchange 2007 onwards.
                  	                 
ECS              Enhanced ChipSet with higher resolutions used on Amiga 500+, 600 
                 and 3000 models.

Edge             Name of the new web browser included with Windows 10. The latest releases
                 uses the same Chromium engine like Google Chrome browser.

Edge server	  A server that sits between a local intranet and internet that provides
                 a service to external users. Sometimes, known as a Gateway server.

EDO              Extended Data Out. Faster type of memory SIMM commonly used on
                 modern PCs. Uses shorter access times for access to memory. 


EEE PC           Asus' low cost and small laptop designed for Children. It comes
                 with a cut down Linux OS but can also run Windows XP.


EFS              Encrypted File System used to encrypt important data using
                 public/private key encryption.
								 
EGA              Enhanced Graphics Adapter. Step up from CGA providing 16 colour
                 screens.
	
EHB              Extra Half Bright mode on Amiga. Adds 32 extra colours at half
                 brightness of previous 32 colours.


EHCI             Enhanced Host Controller Interface for faster USB 2.0 ports.
							 
EIDE             Enhanced IDE. Faster and bigger capacity than nornal IDE which
                 also supports ATAPI (also known as ATA-2).


E-Mail           Electronic Mail. A method of transfering messages over the internet
                 to an E-Mail address e.g. F.Bloggs@myaddress.com  Uses special
                 protocols such as SMTP and POP3.


EM64T            Extended Memory 64 bit Technology. Expansion of the x86 Processor to 
                 included 64 bit capabilities and instructions.


EMS              See Expanded Memory.

Encryption       Encryption is a method of hiding important data when sent over networks.
                 Encryption is used in many applications including the web and email.
                 
EPP              Enhanced Parallel Port found on newer parallel ports which allows
                 bidirectional communication. See also ECP.

EULA             End User Licence Agreement. Terms and conditions for users of
                 software.

EWS              Exchange Web Services. Exchange 2007 and later provide this API to
                 access Email accounts. Used by Outlook on the Mac.

Excel            A spreadsheet application, which is part of Microsoft Office.

Exchange         Microsoft's Email Server used widely in Companies and Organisations.
                 Office 365, Outlook.com and Hotmail are based on this service.


Expanded Memory  Memory used above the 1Mb in 64k chunks swapped out by DOS
                 to provide extra memory. 
								 
Explorer         Main file management window used in Windows 9x/NT.


Extended Memory  Memory used above 1Mb in Protected Mode application such
                 as those in Windows based applications and operating systems.

Extranet         A controlled private network that allows access to partners, vendors
                 or other authorized users.
